Hello my lovelies, I hope you had a great weekend! I’m sorry I’ve been MIA on the blog lately, I’m currently focusing on finishing my thesis but as soon as I’m done with that I will be back to blogging regularly! I recently finished Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Infinite Daring Length + Volume mascara so I thought it’s the perfect opportunity for an in-depth review, especially because I think this mascara is pretty different than others.
The packaging is navy blue with gold letters on it, it’s made from sturdy plastic and looks quite sleek. What makes the mascara really unique in my opinion is the wand. It’s silicone and really dense except for one part where bristles are longer and look like a tiny comb, as you can see in the picture. When applying the mascara I was first using the side with shorter bristles to add volume and then combing through the lashes with the long-bristled side to separate and lenghten them. This two-step application was giving me always the biggest lashes EVER. Unfortunately the picture doesn’t give the mascara justice so you need to take my word for it!
I generally prefer mascaras with drier formulas, as long lashes + wet mascara+ oily skin + hooded eyes = racoon, but this one despite having a very wet formula (that didn’t really dry down after opening) worked for me if I remembered to powder my under eye and lid area. If not, it transfered a bit but nothing too major. It didn’t flake throughout the day and the lashes didn’t lose their curl even after many hours of wear. The wand applies a lot of product to the lashes so removing it at the end of the day was a bit of a mess but the mascara comes off quite easily.
The only thing I didn’t like about it was the smell that lingered for many hours – I could literally smell my lashes during the day, sometimes it was really bothering me. It smells exactly like MAC Studio Fix foundation. It did sting my sensitive eyes a little bit too, but most of the mascaras do that anyways and I didn’t notice any other signs of irritation.
The mascara definitely lived up to my expectations by both volumizing and lenghtening my lashes, just as promised. I think it’s definitely worth the splurge as it’s by far one of the best, if not the best, mascaras I’ve used. I would recommend it to anyone who wants their mascara to do everything possible to the lashes, giving them that spectacular, almost false lash look.
Have you used this mascara? What do you think of it? What are your favourite mascaras?
