Hello everyone, how were your holidays? Since 2015 is already behind us it’s high time for the favourites! These are the items that I loved, discovered or used the most in 2015, I tried not to write about my all-time faves, especially because you know most of them already!
In the beginning I just wanted to thank everyone who has been here with me last year, this blog has been undoubtedly the highlight of the 2015 for me. WordPress’ blogging community is simply amazing and I am extremely happy to be a part of it ❤ Thank you to all my readers and blogging friends, you made my year. I’m really excited about what 2016 will bring to us!
Last year’s favourites are mainly makeup ones – I haven’t loved that many skincare products the past year.
1. Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation.
This was my holy grail foundation in spring and summer when my skin gets really oily. At the time it was just making my skin look flawless. Funnily enough, it felt really light in hot weather – just because it kept the skin dry and matte.I also love that it’s full coverage so it hides all of my acne scars. I was using it almost everyday for half a year, now I switch to different products because it’s too drying for winter.
2. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted hydrating gel cream in 02 Vanilla.
I bought this tinted moisturizer in autumn and to be honest, I rarely use anything else on my face since then. It makes the skin look healthy and perfectly even without looking like you’re wearing makeup. It feels very light and hydrating as well. The coverage is surprisingly good for a tinted cream and SPF 30 is an additional benefit. My skin is oily/combination so I use a mattifying moisturiser underneath and my Bourjois powder on top. As an ingredients freak, I also appreciate that this products is actually non-comedogenic and good for the skin.
3. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge.
I already wrote a separate post about this sponge compared to a Beauty Blender so I’m not going to ramble too much. It completely changed my makeup routine, making the foundation look ten times better. I actually prefer it over the original Beauty Blender.
4. Rimmel Lasting Finish concealer in 02 Ivory.
Thanks to this little guy I can wear my tinted moisturizer without showing around my acne scarring. It gives great coverage hiding all the imperfections and stays put for a decent amount of time. What I love the most is that, unlike any other concealer I’ve tried, this one doesn’t break me out.
5. Bourjois Healthy Balance powder in 52 Vanille.
Another drugstore item in my faves is the Bourjois powder that I also wrote about before. It doesn’t feel heavy or look cakey but it still mattifies the skin perfectly and gives a hint of additional coverage. I love it so much I think I committed to it (almost) fully now.
6. Sephora Contouring 101 Face Palette.
I have been looking for an affordable contouring palette for a really long time because I just cannot find the right shades – the “bronzers” are either too light to show, too orange or too grey. Then I found this one and I just couldn’t be happier. I use all of the shades except the pinky highlight. The only thing I could complain about is the longevity that could be better, but still it’s very good.
7. Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep.
My brows are naturally thick so I don’t need to actually draw them but this product comes in handy when I want them to stay put nicely and thicken them a little bit. It’s extremely long-lasting and the effect it gives is very natural.
8. Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.
If I would have to choose only one palette to use for the rest of my life, it would be this one. I love the colours, blendability, the fact that the shadows stay put no matter how long I wear them and also that they don’t irritate my eyes even the tiniest little bit. The chocolate-vanilla scent is amazing too. Can’t go wrong with this one!
9. MAC All fired up lipstick.
This vivid fuchsia-red matte shade is simply beautiful. It is more appropriate for spring and summer, but I still I found myself reaching for this lipstick all year round. It lasts a long time on the lips but it is also drying so I prefer to use a sheer lip liner underneath. It compliments dark eyes and hair nicely and because it’s more of a cool tone, teeth appear whiter 😉
10. Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in 31 Cambon.
I actually bought this lipstick long time ago but I truly discovered it last year when I realized I should probably throw it out soon. I also stopped shying away from red lipsticks and this one was my go-to – the shade is really gorgeous and at the same time very wearable even during the day with casual outfits. When this one expires, I will definitely need another Chanel red in my collection. I love the moisturizing formula, the hint of shimmer while still being very classy and the rosy scent.
When it comes to my skincare favourites I have only four but all of them worked amazingly for me.
1. Cetaphil EM Micellar emulsion.
This cleanser had a truly great effect on my skin. It’s so gentle for the skin but at the same time it cleans it properly. My skin feels soothed and smooth afterwards and I do not get that tight feeling I have after foamy cleansers. Combined with a few other products and meds it helped me get rid of acne – overdrying cleansers used to break me out.
2. Clinique Anti-blemish Solutions All-over clearing treatment.
Even though Clinique claims it’s a step 3/3 from this skincare line, to me it’s not a moisturizer, it’s an exfoliating treatment. A treatment that really works. I apply it on my T-zone in the morning to mattify it, reduce the size of pores, first clear and now prevent breakouts and fade the scarring. It’s one of the few anti-acne skincare products I’ve used that actually lives up to all expectations and claims. I apply a moisturizer over it because it is indeed exfoliating but also drying. I just must say it broke me out a bit after I first started using it long time ago but this phase was short and now I’m amazed by the effects. I guess it was a clearing process.
3. Origins Clear Improvement Active charcoal mask.
A wonderful mask that helps to clear pores without drying or irritating the skin. Nothing more to say, I just love it.
4. Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight mask.
This one rescues my skin whenever it feels dehydrated or when I need an extra hydration before wearing heavy makeup on a big event. It’s just as if you got new skin in a few hours. Moreover it doesn’t show on the skin at all so you don’t need to be scared that your significant other will wake up next to you and run away.
So here are my beauty faves of the 2015! What were your favourite products last year? Leave me a comment or a link!
